ABOUT RUSA
In 2004, I was the victim of domestic violence and as part of my healing journey, I began studying belly dance, something that for most of my life, I was told I was "To Ugly" and "To Fat" to do.
I took my first American Tribal Style Bellydance Class in winter of 2004 with a Fat Chance Belly Dance Sister Studio and the love for the dance form blossomed. I have been studying it ever since.
Since relocating to Texas in 2011, I have been had the deepest pleasure to be surrounded by some of the most talented and beautiful dancers who have inspired me to begin to learn about other aspects of belly dance and to widen my horizons, but I always come home to ATS.

I am slated to take my General Skills Certification in August 2018 and look ahead to obtaining my Teacher Training Certification in two to four years. In the meantime, I have begun to dip my toe into teaching with leading a Beginners Friendly ATS Level 1 Class in Fredericksburg Texas and look forward to my upcoming classes to be held in Fall of 2018.
The Lotus Lives with it's roots beneath the surface of the water,in watery muck of the pond, where it's dark and scary. Every day, it reaches for the sky by extending it's stalk and blooming a brilliant, pristine flower. The meaning of the Lotus hand gesture is that we touch the dark, murky, scary places but we always bloom into the brilliant day. " |
